Murat Acar, a weather forecaster at the General Directorate of Meteorology of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, stated in his announcement regarding the weather conditions across the country that they expect showers and thunderstorms to be seen nationwide as of the weekend.

Stating that adverse meteorological conditions will continue in the eastern parts of Turkey on Monday and Tuesday, and that they expect the rainy system to leave the country by Tuesday afternoon, Weather Forecaster Acar said, "We estimate that a new precipitation system will arrive on Wednesday, starting from the southwestern parts.

There is a possibility that these rains, which we will see on Wednesday in the south of İzmir, Aydın, Muğla, and the west of Thrace, will be heavy. Later, we anticipate precipitation across our entire country starting from Friday.

These rains may be in the form of sleet and snow in the interior and eastern parts due to the season. In the western parts, these rains will be in the form of showers and thunderstorms. Air temperatures will continue to remain below seasonal norms in the interior and eastern parts on Monday and Tuesday. However, warming has begun in the western parts.

We anticipate that temperatures will rise across the country starting Wednesday, reaching around or above seasonal norms in lower areas. There is a possibility of fog and mist in some parts of the interior and eastern regions during the morning and night hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. We have issued an orange-coded warning for our provinces of Şırnak, Hakkari, Van, and Bitlis until Tuesday afternoon.

This means we will see very heavy showers and thunderstorms, and heavy, sometimes intense, snowfall in high-altitude areas. We also have a yellow-coded warning for the surroundings of Rize and Artvin. We will see sleet and snow in the interior parts of Rize and Artvin, and rain in the coastal areas," he said.

"THE DANGER HAS PASSED IN THE WESTERN BLACK SEA"

Stating that the storm and heavy rain have ended in the Western Black Sea, Acar said, "For now, we can say that the danger has passed in the Western Black Sea. The rains are continuing today, Monday. However, the storm and heavy rain have lost their effect. I mentioned that a new system would arrive starting Wednesday.

With the arrival of this system, there could naturally be danger in the Western Black Sea starting Friday. Our citizens should follow the General Directorate of Meteorology's website and our mobile application regarding this.

Our assessments are always issued as a warning twenty-four hours in advance. So, of course, there is a possibility of an extra meteorological event in the Western Black Sea this week as well," he said.

"WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL REMAIN ABOVE SEASONAL NORMS"

Stating that no snowfall is expected this week for Ankara, Istanbul, and İzmir, Acar said, "There is actually no precipitation for three days. Air temperatures are rising in Ankara. They may reach around or sometimes above seasonal norms. However, rains will begin in Ankara towards the weekend.

These rains may be in the form of sleet and snow in the high parts of Ankara. Our assessments are ongoing, but we do not expect significant snowfall in Ankara for now. In Istanbul, the rains may be heavy on Wednesday.

We do not foresee snowfall in Istanbul for now. However, with the entry of the first system, snowfall may be seen in the west of Marmara, Edirne, and Kırklareli. There may be snowfall in the west and high parts of Istanbul's European side.

Other than that, there is no snowfall in Istanbul. Rains will continue in Istanbul towards the weekend. In İzmir, we will start to see the effects of this new system on Wednesday. The rains in İzmir are heavy on Wednesday, but we do not expect any snowfall in Istanbul, as they will be in the form of showers and thunderstorms. Weather conditions will remain above seasonal norms," he assessed.
