Miner trapped under collapse rescued alive after 4 hours

In the collapse that occurred around 23:00 at a chrome mine operating in the Devekonağı locality of the Karaismailler neighborhood in the Acıpayam district, mining engineer Kadir Özer and workers Rıfat Salman and Mustafa Karahan were trapped under the debris.

As a result of search and rescue efforts initiated with the participation of teams and fellow miners, the lifeless bodies of mining engineer Kadir Özer and worker Rıfat Salman were recovered.

Minutes after Denizli Governor Ömer Faruk Coşkun, who was managing the search and rescue operations on-site, stated, "We have voice contact with our other friend under the collapse. Hopefully, we can rescue him safe and sound," Mustafa Karahan, who had been trapped under the collapse for approximately 4 hours, was reached alive.

The worker, who was taken by ambulance amidst the tears of his relatives waiting for good news, was transported to Acıpayam State Hospital. It was reported that the health condition of Mustafa Karahan, who was rescued alive, is good.

Himmet Salman, the brother of the rescued worker Mustafa Karahan, who was reunited with his brother after hours, expressed his happiness with the words, "When he didn't come home at 00:00, we got worried. The neighborhood headman called us and informed us of the situation. We quickly came to the mine site. We received the joyful news amidst our anxiety. Thank God he came out safe and sound."
