Newborn baby put in a bag and thrown into the street: Mother and grandmother detained

The incident occurred yesterday morning around 07:00 in Esenyurt Selahaddin Eyübbi Neighborhood. According to allegations, a woman who gave birth at home asked her neighbors for a grocery bag, put her baby inside, and threw it into the street from the window of the house she was in. A man taking his child to school was passing through the street, became suspicious of the bag, opened it, and encountered the newborn baby. Upon notification, police teams arrived at the scene and began an investigation in the area, while medical teams took the baby to the hospital. Following a tip-off from neighbors, they went to the home of the woman who had just given birth; the woman did not open the door and reacted to the police teams by saying, "What is it to you, isn't it my child?" After persuasion efforts, the woman was detained and taken to the police station.

MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER DETAINED

The baby lost its life, and the mother and grandmother were referred to judicial authorities.

It was determined that the baby, who was taken to the hospital by medical personnel after the initial intervention, had lost its life. Continuing their work, police teams detained the baby's mother, S.M.Ö., and the grandmother, N.G., who were in the house. It was learned that the mother and daughter were referred to judicial authorities following their procedures at the police station.
