Reconnaissance footage of ISIS cell dismantled by MIT for New Year's attack revealed

Reconnaissance footage belonging to terrorists from an ISIS cell, which was dismantled by MIT and police teams while preparing to attack places of worship such as churches and synagogues belonging to Christian and Jewish communities living in Turkey, has been revealed.

The National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and the General Directorate of Security dismantled an ISIS action cell identified as preparing for attacks on temples and places of worship belonging to Jewish and Christian communities in Turkey during the New Year, conducting simultaneous operations in Istanbul, Ankara, Balıkesir, Bolu, Düzce, Kırşehir, Konya, Sakarya, and Samsun. In the operation in question, 32 cell members of Iraqi, Syrian, and Moroccan nationality were captured during simultaneous raids on 39 addresses.

The interrogation of the ISIS members from the cell, which was dismantled by security and intelligence units while preparing for a sensational act, has been completed at the Counter-Terrorism Branch. 32 suspects, including those identified as key figures of the cell such as Micbel El-Şuveyhi (codenamed "Abu Yakin Al-Iraqi"), Mohammed Hilaf İbrahim İbrahim (codenamed "Abu Leys"), and İyheb El-Ani (codenamed "Abdullah Al-Jumaili"), were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.

While it was determined that the members of this cell and other ISIS members were operating within a structure deep inside Turkey called the Salman al-Farisi Battalion, reconnaissance and surveillance footage belonging to the cell members was revealed while they were preparing to attack churches and synagogues belonging to Christian and Jewish communities living in Turkey. It was determined that Micbel El-Şuveyhi (codenamed Abu Yakin Al-Iraqi) and Mohammed Hilaf İbrahim İbrahim (codenamed Abu Leys), who operated as the so-called "intelligence officers" within the structure of the terrorist organization, were preparing for sensational acts against synagogues and churches in the country, while İyheb El-Ani (codenamed Abdullah Al-Jumaili) was preparing for an act against the Iraqi Embassy in Ankara. While a large amount of digital material belonging to the cell members, who were dismantled in a chain operation, was seized, the security camera footage of the reconnaissance and surveillance was found to be noteworthy. While it is being investigated which branch of the organization the attack order came from, it was learned that Micbel El-Şuveyhi, Mohammed Hilaf İbrahim İbrahim, and İyheb El-Ani, key figures in the cell who broke down during interrogation, shared detailed information about their recruitment processes into ISIS, their activities within the organization in Syria and Turkey, and individuals linked to ISIS in the country. It was reported that the footage related to the cell members, who were understood to have broken down during cross-examination, was reconnaissance footage from before the planned act. On the other hand, 25 of the organization members referred to the courthouse were arrested by the court. While "house arrest" was applied to one suspect, 4 ISIS suspects were released under judicial control conditions. It was reported that 2 suspects captured in the operation were referred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management to be deported.
