Snowfall was effective in some districts of Istanbul

The snowfall, which began in the morning hours on the European side, was effective in the higher parts of the city.

The snowfall increased in intensity during the morning hours in some regions, primarily in Sultangazi.

In Sultangazi, vehicles were covered with a white blanket.

The snowfall was also effective from time to time in Başakşehir, Gaziosmanpaşa, Bayrampaşa, and Esenler.

TRAFFIC CONGESTION DUE TO SNOW

The snowfall, which continues to affect the city, caused traffic congestion during the morning hours.

SCHOOLS CLOSED IN 8 DISTRICTS

Due to the snowfall that has been effective in Istanbul since the morning hours, education has been suspended for one day in 8 districts across the city.

In a written statement made by the Istanbul Governor's Office, it was stated, "The snowfall, which is effective in the northern districts of Istanbul, is not affecting the southern and central districts of the city.

Therefore, there is no question of suspending education across the entire city. District General Hygiene Boards have been authorized regarding the suspension of education in schools in our districts where snowfall is effective.

In this context, education has been suspended for one day (Tuesday, February 11, 2025) in our Başakşehir, Beylikdüzü, Büyükçekmece, Esenyurt, Sultangazi, Beykoz, Avcılar, and Arnavutköy districts by the decision of the District General Hygiene Board."
