Storm disaster at Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant: 1 dead, 1 critically injured
The roofs of a prefabricated facility housing workers at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in the Gülnar district of Mersin were blown off by strong winds. One worker lost his life in the incident, and another was critically injured.
The roofs of a prefabricated facility where workers at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant stay, located in the Sipahili neighborhood of Mersin's Gülnar district, were blown off due to strong winds.
A.Ç. (24), upon whom the roof fell, and A.F. (44), who was trapped under a car that rolled over due to the force of the wind, were critically injured.
Some vehicles parked at the facility were also damaged. Upon notification, 112 Emergency Health, police, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area.
A.Ç., one of the injured taken to the hospital by medical teams, could not be saved despite all interventions. The efforts of the workers' colleagues to rescue them were captured on a mobile phone camera.
