Taxi driver undergoes inspection despite not being stopped: 'I love my state'

An inspection was carried out in Eminönü by the Civil Traffic teams affiliated with the Istanbul Police Department's Traffic Inspection Branch.

Action was taken against those who were picking and choosing passengers, had missing documents, or did not comply with traffic rules. Fines of 436 TL each were issued to two individuals determined not to be wearing seatbelts, 436 TL to a driver who did not comply with traffic signs, 951 TL to an individual who did not have their driver's license with them, and 1,671 TL to another driver.

"I LOVE MY STATE"

On the other hand, an interesting moment occurred during the inspection. A taxi driver stated that the officers had not stopped him, but that he had stopped of his own volition. The taxi driver said, "I stopped on purpose. No one was checking whether my license had any penalties or not. That's why. I thought I'd go through an inspection. The officers didn't stop me, I mean. They have to do it anyway. Everyone should do their job. If they don't do their job, this country won't function. I love my state, brother." During the checks on this driver, it was observed that there were no deficiencies or issues with his documents.

It was learned that the inspections carried out by the Civil Traffic teams affiliated with the Istanbul Police Department's Traffic Inspection Branch targeting taxi drivers will continue.
