The Istanbul Robbery Bureau announced that a group of suspects claiming to be police officers in Esenyurt intercepted a truck and robbed it of fabric rolls worth 1.7 million TL. It was stated that the robbery took place on the morning of February 18, around 08:30, on Uğur Mumcu Street in the Selahattin Eyyubi neighborhood.

According to the police statement, the suspects neutralized the truck driver and his assistant before taking the fabric and fleeing. It was announced that police teams apprehended 5 suspects in a short time thanks to footage captured by security cameras.

THEY ATTACKED THE ASSISTANTS

According to the bureau, at the time of the incident, textile company employees N.Y. and N.M. had loaded fabric rolls with a market value of 1.7 million lira onto a truck and set off. Police officials stated that 4 people claiming to be police officers cut off the truck's path.

It was learned that the suspects blindfolded the driver, N.Y., and forced him into their own vehicle. It was reported that the assistant, N.M., was also neutralized by being blindfolded inside the truck, and that the suspects fled the scene after transferring the fabric to another vehicle to take the truck to Avcılar.

279 ROLLS OF FABRIC RECOVERED

Following the incident, the Istanbul Robbery Bureau announced that teams had launched an investigation to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen fabric. Investigations revealed that the suspects had followed the truck in a white vehicle from the moment it left the textile factory.

Police teams apprehended 5 suspects in an operation conducted on March 11. During the operation, 279 rolls of fabric weighing 4 thousand 971 kilograms were also recovered. The suspects were referred to judicial authorities after the completion of their procedures at the police station.
