Woman who defrauded 300,000 lira by impersonating a police officer caught in Bursa
A suspect who defrauded an elderly woman in Bursa of 300,000 lira by posing as a police officer has been caught in Istanbul and arrested.
In Mudanya, Bursa, a suspect who introduced herself to an elderly woman over the phone as a police officer defrauded the woman of cash and jewelry worth 300,000 lira.
In the Mudanya district of Bursa, the suspect, who reached D.M. (33) by phone and introduced herself as a police officer, told the woman on the phone, "your identification cards were found on the criminals we caught," and demanded that she put the cash and valuable jewelry in her home into a bag and bring them to the address provided.

Panicked by fear, D.M. put 42,000 lira in cash, 3,500 dollars, 22 grams of gold, a gold bracelet, a gold necklace, a gold ring, and 2 wristwatches into her bag and went to the address specified. She handed the bag over to the suspect who came to collect it in a side street. Realizing she had been defrauded a short while later, D.M. immediately called 112 emergency teams to ask for help.

FLED TO ISTANBUL
Upon the report, teams from the Bursa Public Security Branch Office, Fraud Bureau, were mobilized. Examining cameras in the area, the teams identified the suspect as Kadriye Demet Ö., who has a criminal record for similar offenses. Launching an operation to catch the suspect, the police discovered that the fraudster had fled to Istanbul. Taking action, the teams detained the suspect at the address where she was hiding. The fraudster, who was taken to the police station to give a statement, was arrested by the court after her procedures there and sent to prison.
