Young man who stole a mobile phone in Konya tells police, 'I was influenced by a movie'
In Konya, a suspect who stole a mobile phone from a woman waiting on the side of the road while riding a bicycle, and who was identified and caught by police through security camera footage, confessed to the crime, saying, "I was influenced by a movie." The suspect has been arrested.
The incident occurred on Thursday, January 23, on Küçükkumköprü Street in the Doğuş neighborhood of the central Karatay district. According to the information obtained, a person on a bicycle approached a woman named E.C., who was waiting on the street and looking at her phone at the time, and snatched her mobile phone before speeding away.

Following the incident, teams from the Karatay District Police Department's Crime Prevention and Investigation Bureau launched an investigation and examined security camera footage of the moment the crime took place. The suspect, identified through 150 hours of camera footage, was apprehended by the teams at the house where he was hiding.
"I DIDN'T PLAN IT THIS WAY"
It was learned that the suspect, M.H. (18), said in his statement, "I had borrowed a bicycle from my brother-in-law. While riding the bike, I was influenced by a movie I had watched. I wanted to try it, but I got caught by the police. I didn't plan it this way." The snatch-theft suspect M.H., who underwent a health check at Konya Numune Hospital, was referred to the Konya Courthouse after his procedures at the police station. The suspect was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
