Warning from Ahmet Ercan following the 4.4 magnitude earthquake in Hakkari!

AFAD data indicates that a 4.4 magnitude earthquake occurred with its epicenter in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari. It was noted that the tremor, which had a depth of 5.74 km, was also felt in surrounding provinces.

Following the earthquake, which caused brief panic, Geophysicist Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan shared a post on his social media account.

"STRUCTURES VULNERABLE TO COLLAPSE MUST BE DEMOLISHED WITHOUT WAITING FOR AN EARTHQUAKE"

Ercan's post is as follows;

"While waiting for the Hakkari earthquake, today it was M4.4. Structures and the ground must be rapidly scanned by geophysicists, and resonance measurements must be taken immediately. Those vulnerable to collapse must be demolished without waiting for an earthquake. TOKİ must build housing rapidly. Let no one die, let no more pain be experienced. The Republic is the protector of those who have no one."
