Warning from AKOM for Istanbul: The storm will last for days
The weather in Istanbul will cool down for a week, and continuous rainfall is expected. It has been reported that temperatures will drop below seasonal averages.
Istanbul is entering a period of heavy rainfall and cool weather in the coming days. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Disaster Affairs and Risk Management drew attention to the fact that temperatures will drop significantly in its weekly weather report prepared for the city. Temperatures across the city are expected to fall to levels between 18 and 22 degrees and remain below seasonal norms.
Thunderstorms are expected alongside rainfall that will increase in intensity starting tomorrow. Forecasts indicate that between 3 and 10 kilograms of precipitation per square meter may fall. It is noted that the cool weather, which will begin especially on Wednesday, will continue uninterrupted on Thursday and Friday.
The amount of rainfall, which is expected to intensify in various parts of the city on Friday, is projected to be between 5 and 15 kilograms per square meter. This day stands out as the date when the heaviest rainfall of the week will be seen.
The rainfall will continue over the weekend. It is estimated that the rain, which will be light and local on Saturday, will show its effect again in the form of thunderstorms and heavy downpours on Sunday.
Authorities warned citizens to be cautious against sudden flooding and potential transportation disruptions. It is emphasized that the rainy and cool weather wave in Istanbul will continue uninterrupted for several days.
