Warning issued for Istanbul: Weather to take a sudden turn

The cool air wave that has been effective in Istanbul in recent days is giving way to sunny and mild weather over the weekend. However, despite this temporary rise, experts point out that temperatures will drop rapidly and unexpectedly. The latest weather report from the Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) shows that the city will experience a “temperature fluctuation” between April 26 and May 1.

THE WEEKEND WILL BE REMINISCENT OF SUMMER

Thermometers in the city are expected to show 22 degrees on Saturday. With light to moderate winds from the northeast, humidity levels will range between 40 and 80 percent throughout the day. On Sunday, the sky will be clear, and the temperature will drop to around 20 degrees.

WEATHER TO CHANGE NEXT WEEK

In the weekly weather forecast shared by AKOM, no precipitation is expected in Istanbul between April 27 and 29. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will see partly cloudy and clear weather, with temperatures remaining stable in the 17-18 degree range. On Thursday, April 30, the weather will be partly cloudy, and clouds will begin to cover the sky.

On the last working day of the week, Friday, May 1, a surprise weather change awaits Istanbulites. According to the AKOM report, the temperature in the city will suddenly drop to 7 degrees on Friday, and 5-15 kilograms of precipitation per square meter is expected. Experts reiterate their warnings to “not rely on spring clothing and to be careful due to the rapid temperature change.”

Those who want to enjoy the warm weather in Istanbul over the weekend are advised to be prepared for the sudden cooling and rain expected starting from the beginning of next week.
