Weather alert for Istanbul residents for tomorrow!

Istanbul will wake up to rainy weather on Thursday, February 15. According to the latest assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology, the rainfall expected to be effective across the city will continue with varying intensity throughout the day.

FREEZING WEATHER WARNING

While the lowest temperatures in various parts of the city will drop to 5 degrees, the highest temperatures are expected to reach 11 degrees. In districts such as Beşiktaş, Büyükçekmece, and Silivri in particular, the lowest temperatures are estimated to be 5 degrees. During these days when rain will be effective, citizens need to be careful regarding heating and health issues.

Kartal and Maltepe stand out among the regions where the rainfall will be felt the most; temperatures in these areas are expected to rise up to 11 degrees. However, the rainy weather may negatively affect transportation and time spent outdoors across all of Istanbul.

WILL LAST 30 HOURS

On the other hand, a warning issued in the evening by Hava Forum, known for its meteorological forecasts on social media, drew attention. The announcement called for vigilance against 30 hours of non-stop rain that will begin in Istanbul tomorrow morning.

IMM IS ON ALERT

While it is known that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and relevant institutions have taken precautions against possible flooding and flash flood risks brought by the rainy weather, it is recommended that citizens be prepared for adverse weather conditions and avoid going out unless necessary.

It is estimated that traffic congestion, which may occur during morning and evening commutes to work and school, may increase due to the rainy weather. Drivers are advised to be more careful and to prefer public transportation if possible.
