Weather warning for the weekend: Heavy rainfall expected

According to the latest assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology, many regions of the country will come under the influence of a new rainy system arriving from the Central Mediterranean over the weekend. Weather Forecasting Expert Fevzi Burak Tekin announced that temperatures are expected to rise above seasonal norms from time to time, particularly in the northern and western provinces.

According to the information provided by Tekin, precipitation will be limited across Turkey. The sky will generally be partly and slightly cloudy in the central and eastern regions. However, intermittent showers are expected in the Marmara, Western Black Sea, and Aegean coastal regions. Tekin stated that caution should be exercised against heavy rainfall tomorrow, especially in the coastal parts of İzmir, Balıkesir, and Aydın, and warned citizens against potential transportation disruptions.

The rainfall will largely lose its effect on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, and the weather will generally be clear and slightly cloudy. In contrast, it was stated that showers may be seen at different times of the week in Thrace and the Aegean coasts. Experts also draw attention to the risk of icing and frost in the eastern regions, as well as the danger of avalanches in the Black Sea and the eastern parts of Eastern Anatolia.

Information regarding the weather in the three major cities was also shared. No precipitation is expected in Ankara over the weekend, with temperatures in the city estimated to be between 4 and 7 degrees. In Istanbul, intermittent rainfall is expected starting from the morning hours, with temperatures between 14 and 16 degrees. Additionally, strong winds from the south and southwest, occasionally reaching storm force, are expected in the city tomorrow. In İzmir, heavy showers will be effective throughout the weekend, and thermometers will hover between 12 and 16 degrees.

Experts advise citizens planning their weekend to closely follow meteorological updates.
