Wedding convoy with siren-equipped vehicles! Minister Yerlikaya announces the penalties

Nineteen individuals who endangered traffic safety by drifting with luxury vehicles equipped with illegal sirens during a wedding convoy in Istanbul have been issued administrative fines and handed over to the police, following an announcement by Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya.

In a statement on his social media account, Yerlikaya noted that footage circulating on social media showing a wedding convoy drifting with siren-equipped luxury vehicles on the E-5 North Maltepe and Beykoz connecting roads in Istanbul on September 28 had been investigated by the Traffic Inspection Branch Directorate.

"REPORT THOSE WHO DISREGARD TRAFFIC SAFETY TO 112"

Reporting that the work carried out by Civil Traffic Teams identified these individuals as A.K, H.T, M.A.T, S.D, O.K, S.A, T.G, A.S.A, M.Ö, A.K, B.V, M.G, D.G, U.S, Ş.Ö, A.M.K, M.K, R.A., and M.Y., Yerlikaya stated the following:

"Administrative fines have been imposed on the individuals under the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918 for drifting, possessing unauthorized siren and light equipment, driving below the speed limit, forming a convoy, driving disrespectfully, using window tint, driving a vehicle without a valid inspection, obscuring license plates, and making unauthorized technical modifications. The individuals have been handed over to the Beykoz Çavuşbaşı Police Station to be processed for the crime of 'endangering traffic safety.'

We will not tolerate those who drive disrespectfully, those who disregard traffic safety by forming wedding or military convoys, or those who disregard the safety of other drivers. My request to our noble nation is to report those who drive in this manner and disregard traffic safety to 112. We will do what is necessary and hand them over to justice. Let us not allow such incidents to happen."

The video in Yerlikaya's post also included footage of the vehicles in question being displayed at the Traffic Inspection Branch Directorate.
