What did Erdoğan say to Bahçeli after the 'Öcalan' call? Leaked from the corridors
Following MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's call regarding terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan, it has been claimed that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated Bahçeli.
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçelishaking hands with DEM Party deputies at the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly sparked discussions about a new resolution process.
As the debates continued, MHP leader Bahçeli shifted gears and made a call for Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, "Let him come and speak in Parliament" he said. In the continuation of his speech, Bahçeli stated that terrorist leader Öcalan should benefit from the 'right to hope'.
It was claimed that Bahçeli made this call without the knowledge of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
CONGRATULATIONS FROM ERDOĞAN TO BAHÇELİ
According to a report by the Türkiye newspaper, known for its proximity to the government,, it is claimed that Erdoğan congratulated Bahçeli for his speech.
Stating that there is a full consensus within the People's Alliance for a 'Turkey without terrorism,' AKP sources spoke as follows:
“Whenever there has been a debate on these issues until today, public assessments were made saying, ‘The MHP will not allow it, the AK Party cannot take a step.’ Therefore, the fact that this initiative was taken by Mr. Bahçeli is very valuable to us.
Even those who never spoke are now starting to talk about this issue. This process is directly related to developments in the Middle East. With so much happening around us, we cannot just wait as if nothing is going on.
In the coming days, the positions of the DEM Party, Imralı, Qandil, and other elements will become fully clear. It will be seen whether they will continue to walk the path with the US or Israel. Turkey is saying here, ‘I will not sacrifice the Kurds to the Zionist plan,’ and is also giving an opportunity to those who exploit our Kurdish citizens.”
WHAT HAD ERDOĞAN SAID?
Erdoğan had supported the surprise statement by MHP Chairman Bahçeli, who called on terrorist leader Öcalan to come to Parliament, by emphasizing the 'alliance' and 'using all tools and opportunities' without mentioning Öcalan's name. Erdoğan had stated, "As the government and the alliance, we take everything into account before taking a step. We will walk toward our goals by dismantling the traps set. By using all the tools and opportunities available in our country, we will build a Turkey where terrorism and violence do not exist, and where democracy and brotherhood prevail."
Main opposition party CHP leader Özgür Özel also addressed Erdoğan, saying, "Do not make Bahçeli your spokesperson; say what you have to say yourself." Stating, "We will believe in the existence of this problem until the Kurds say there is no problem left," Özel had expressed, "This problem must be solved by initiating a process in Parliament where everyone can feel free."
