Social media influencers Nihal Candan (Çiçek) and her sister Bahar Candan, who rose to fame on a fashion program they participated in, were detained yesterday.

The suspects were apprehended as part of an investigation into qualified fraud and money laundering and were taken to the Public Security Branch Directorate.

PROSECUTOR'S OPINION ANNOUNCED IN THE CASE

In the prosecutor's opinion, which also explained that victims were left waiting, it was stated: “When the vehicle was not delivered at the end of the specified period and no news could be received from the members of the criminal organization, the victim realized they had been defrauded. After the project was terminated, victims who tried to seek their rights by contacting the network members were threatened and intimidated by Onur Apaydın and his team.”

REQUEST FOR 400 TO 1,328 YEARS IN PRISON

In the prosecutor's opinion, it was requested that Eren Koç be sentenced to between 400 and 1,328 years in prison for 'establishing and managing a criminal organization' and 66 counts of 'qualified fraud'.

For defendant Onur Apaydın, it was requested that he be sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison for 'being a member of a criminal organization', while it was requested that he be acquitted of fraud charges due to a lack of definitive and convincing evidence beyond any doubt that he participated in those crimes.

On the other hand, the prosecutor's opinion also requested that other defendants be sentenced to varying terms of imprisonment.

The defendants and their lawyers, who were given the floor, requested time to prepare their defense against the prosecutor's opinion.

Announcing its interim decision, the court ruled for the continuation of the detention of defendant Eren Koç and the judicial control measures applied to some of the other defendants.

The hearing was adjourned to address the remaining deficiencies.
