WHO IS MEHMET MURAT ÇALIK?
Born in 1972 in the Maçka district of Trabzon, Mehmet Murat Çalık completed his primary and secondary education there. After graduating from Trabzon High School, he went on to graduate from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) Faculty of Architecture and began his professional career.
Starting his work in the field of planning with a company he founded in 1998, Çalık undertook significant projects during this period and succeeded in making a name for himself in the sector with his work.
Having served in many non-governmental organizations in professional and social fields, Çalık held various management positions and served as vice president at the Istanbul Branch of the Chamber of City Planners between 2008 and 2014.
Following Ekrem İmamoğlu's election as Mayor of Beylikdüzü, Çalık assumed the roles of Technical Coordinator and Deputy Mayor at the institution.
Elected as the Mayor of Beylikdüzü in the 2019 Local Government Elections, Mehmet Murat Çalık is married to Zehra Evin Çalık and is a father of two.
