NEVZAT BAHTİYAR'S FIRST STATEMENT

Nevzat Bahtiyar made the following statements in his first testimony;

'Salim Güran (Narin's uncle) pointed to something wrapped in a blanket and said, "You will get rid of this." He said, "Think carefully, I will give you 200 thousand liras." We took the child wrapped in the blanket and put her into the sack together. Before leaving with Mukhtar Salim Güran, he pointed to the Eğertutmaz Stream, which we call the "lake," and said, "Take it there." I found a place near the tree that was not very deep. There was some water here. I left the sack in this area and placed a stone on top of it, thinking that the sack might be found by someone.'

NEVZAT BAHTİYAR'S FINAL STATEMENT

Nevzat Bahtiyar's final statement, as he appeared before the judge on November 7, is as follows:

'The uncle told me that Narin saw him having sexual intercourse with her mother. He said that was why he killed her. They most likely killed her by strangulation. I put the body in the bag in the barn. His uncle asked me to dismember Narin's body. My conscience did not allow it.'

The answers Bahtiyar gave to the lawyer's questions are as follows;

Lawyer: Who wrapped her in the blanket?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: I wrapped her. I held one side, and Salim wrapped the other. We left the house together. Salim saw the slipper in front of the door and said, "Take Narin's slippers too."

Lawyer: What was the blanket like, what color was it?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: I don't remember. I threw it down slowly from the chute in my barn along with the blanket. Then I put Narin in the sack in the barn and put her in the car. I left the blanket outside.

Lawyer: Didn't you go into the water?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: I didn't. There was 40-50 cm of water, but I didn't go into the water.

Lawyer: You know that stream well, don't you?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: Yes, I know it.

Judge: Why did you decide to leave her there?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: It was the footpath.

Lawyer: You were there for 38 minutes, it is proven by evidence. While you were hiding Narin there, her leg was outside; didn't you think at all that an animal might come?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: I don't know, I didn't think an animal would eat her. I only left one stone. The only one who knew was Salim, and even Salim didn't know the exact location.'
