Woman critically injured after being struck by a semi-truck in Sakarya; driver detained
In the Erenler district of Sakarya, a semi-truck struck a woman who was attempting to cross the road between vehicles stopped at a red light. The woman was critically injured, and the driver has been taken into custody.
The semi-truck with license plate 54 AGF 090, driven by M.E., which had been stopped at a red light on Yeni Sakarya Street and began moving when the light turned green, struck S.Ç. as she was attempting to cross the road between the vehicles.
Upon notification, health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the scene of the accident.
It was learned that the woman, who was extracted from under the truck by the teams and taken to Sakarya Training and Research Hospital, remains in critical condition.
The driver, M.E., was taken to the police station to provide a statement.
Meanwhile, the accident was recorded by the security camera of a nearby business.
The footage shows the truck striking S.Ç. as she attempts to pass between the vehicles.
