Yavaş's response to Erdoğan: 'Our management approach is spotless': 'Our only reliance is the will of the people'
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş responded to criticisms directed at him by President Erdoğan. In response to Erdoğan's statement that 'the roads in Ankara are impassable due to mud,' Yavaş stated that their 'management approach is spotless.'
Responding to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in a post on his social media account, Yavaş noted that they practice municipal governance 'through service, not polemics,' and emphasized that more than 60 percent of Ankara residents trust them. In his response to Erdoğan's criticisms regarding the municipalities in Istanbul and Ankara, Yavaş expressed that the only authority they are accountable to is the conscience of the people of Ankara.
Answering journalists' questions upon his return from his Asia tour, Erdoğan criticized the municipal management approach in Ankara and Istanbul, stating the following:
''In Ankara, the roads are impassable due to mud. The streets are overrun with stray dogs. The same applies to Istanbul. The same situation is the case there as well. While citizens expect service, they are chasing political ambitions.''
Responding to Erdoğan's statements via a post on his social media account, Yavaş used the following expressions:
''We practice municipal governance in Ankara through service, not polemics. Of course, our streets may sometimes be muddy; we may have some shortcomings. But our management approach is spotless: It is transparent, accountable, participatory, and at the same time, social and productive municipalism. As a municipality that has received the trust of over 60 percent of Ankara residents, we speak through our actions, not perceptions. Our only reliance is the will of the people, and the only authority we are accountable to is the conscience of the people of Ankara.''
We practice municipal governance in Ankara through service, not polemics.
