Yeni Şafak, which named the expert and sought their opinion, remains untouched: Those who granted the right of reply are in custody

Barış Pehlivan, Serhan Asker, and Seda Selek were taken into custody for granting a right of reply to an expert witness named by IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. It has emerged that the same expert also spoke to Yeni Şafak, a newspaper known for its proximity to the government.

Following İmamoğlu's allegations regarding the expert, Pehlivan contacted the expert in question and granted them a right of reply. After this conversation was broadcast, an investigation was launched into Barış Pehlivan and Halk TV. 

The investigation was opened under the Turkish Penal Code for the crimes of "Eavesdropping and Recording Conversations Between Individuals" and "Attempting to Influence an Expert," on the grounds that "the phone conversation with the expert during the Halk TV broadcast was recorded and published without permission, and the expert's name was disclosed in a way that would make them a target, with remarks made intended to influence the course of the trial."

YENİ ŞAFAK ALSO SOUGHT AN OPINION!

While all this was happening, it emerged that the newspaper Yeni Şafak, known for its proximity to the government, had also spoken to the expert in question. 

In a report published on January 28 with the byline of Erdal Kılınç, the expert's name was explicitly stated. Following the detentions that took place after the same report, all eyes have turned to Yeni Şafak.
