Yeniden Refah supports Bahçeli's call for 'DEM to meet with İmralı'

Yeniden Refah Party Deputy Chairman Suat Kılıç made statements regarding the agenda following his party's Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting.

Expressing that a statement made by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources did not create the expected impact on the public, Kılıç said, "When the Ministry's statement is taken into account, it is seen that as of January 1, 2025, the 60 percent subsidy item on energy bills for annual consumption exceeding 5,000 kilowatt-hours in residences will be removed.

Considering the fact that current bills are 60 percent subsidized and that this 60 percent subsidy will be removed as of January 1, the picture that emerges is as follows: As of January 1, 2025, this means there will be a 150 percent hike in electricity consumption for subscribers whose annual consumption exceeds 5,000 kilowatt-hours in total. It is impossible for anyone in this country to afford a 150 percent hike in electricity consumption during the winter months," he said.

Kılıç stated, "The incidents that occurred in recent weeks in Balıkesir, Mersin, and Istanbul, and finally at the children's homes site in Niğde, are truly hair-raising events. In the state dormitory in Niğde, a 9-year-old child of ours with disabilities and epilepsy was unfortunately subjected to violence by staff and lost their life. A child who is only 9 years old, disabled, and suffering from epilepsy—what do you want from this child, you public servant who has lost their conscience? If the state does not see this picture, it is not a state.

A country where a 9-year-old child loses their life due to being beaten in a state dormitory is not a social state. Children were left hungry, beaten, kicked and dragged on the floor, and assaulted. Children were given group baths. Their privacy was destroyed. Children were locked under stairs and subjected to solitary confinement. In such a country, there may be a Ministry of Family, but there is no Minister of Family," he said.

Evaluating MHP leader Bahçeli's DEM Party-İmralı call upon a journalist's question, Kılıç noted the following:

"We are following Mr. Bahçeli's statements. He says: 'The DEM Party should be enabled to meet with İmralı.' A DEM Party delegation visited us last week. It was seen during the visit that the DEM Party does not have any special or general information on this matter. There is no information different from what the public knows. If a process is to be initiated, whatever its name may be, the DEM Party must also be informed about it.

Since Mr. Bahçeli has assigned a mission to civil politics and requested that the DEM Party meet with İmralı, we also support this proposal. The AK Party should provide the necessary support to Devlet Bahçeli's call. Let the meeting take place, and whatever message is to be received, let it be received.

Turkey should not discuss the parameters of an enigma. If there is a path to be taken, let it be taken. If there is a step to be taken, let it be taken, but Turkey should stop beating around the bush. We had rejected Mr. Bahçeli's previous call for the terrorist leader to come to Parliament with firm language. I suppose that call did not find a response in the corridors of the AK Party."

Finally, Kılıç also spoke about the ongoing debate regarding the closure of municipal daycare centers:

"All political parties had made promises about daycare centers during the elections. To be honest, we also had a promise for daycare centers in Ankara. Mr. Murat Kurum had a promise for nearly a hundred daycare centers in Istanbul. In essence, they gave the CHP municipalities a lifeline they never expected with this circular. Because these are municipalities that could not even build 10 percent of the daycare centers they promised. These are municipalities that cannot keep their promises. Through this circular, such a perception was created in the public as if CHP municipalities had filled all neighborhoods and districts with daycare centers and the government is opposing and obstructing this.

How many daycare center signs did you see in Ankara, or how many did you see in Istanbul? The existing ones are already just for show. But mayors are probably applauding those who signed this decision. Because they are scoring points as if a service 10-20 times greater than what they actually provided has been done in their favor. In the world, these things are mostly done through local governments. If municipalities are opening daycare centers, let them open them. If they are opening kindergartens, let them open them. If there are mandatory provisions of the Constitutional Court or the laws, let them be designed accordingly.

And let the state provide the necessary supervision over them. If education contrary to our general education curriculum, our national and moral values, and our unity and solidarity is being provided or training is being conducted in these places such as daycare centers, kindergartens, and day-care homes, then of course it is the state's right and duty to do what is necessary. But to decide to 'remove and close them all' without any inspection whatsoever has no explanation in law, logic, or politics."
