Yerlikaya announces: 6 organized crime groups dismantled

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 6 separate organized crime groups have been dismantled through operations carried out across Turkey.

Within the scope of the operations codenamed "KUYU-6," dawn raids were conducted against groups led by Yüsri Altın in Mersin, Taha Kutay Karasoy in Istanbul, Sami Cerit in Antalya, Çetin Gül in Aydın, Mehmet Aşçı in Kahramanmaraş, and Ercan Çelik in İzmir.

Under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's KOM Department, and carried out by the Mersin Provincial Police Department's Tarsus KOM Bureau and the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Organized Crime Branch, operations were conducted against the organized crime group led by Yüsri ALTIN (at large), whose members were found to have committed crimes including establishing an organization, loan sharking, threats, and intentional injury. As a result of the operations, a total of 75 suspects were taken into custody. 10 suspects were arrested, and judicial control measures were imposed on 5 others.

The operations were carried out against suspects linked to crimes such as establishing an organization, loan sharking, threats, intentional injury, and drug trafficking.

In the operations conducted in Aydın, Kahramanmaraş, and İzmir, 45 more suspects wanted for various crimes were also apprehended. While detailed investigations into these operations continue, it was determined that the suspects attempted to launder the income they obtained through the criminal organizations, victimized citizens by lending money at high interest rates, and seized their properties by forcing them to sign promissory notes.
