Yılmaz Özdil: Erdoğan's campaign to polish Özgür Özel has begun
Journalist Yılmaz Özdil, who recently confirmed his return to Sözcü as of March, offers a striking assessment of the harsh remarks directed by AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan at CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
As the CHP prepares to hold a primary for its presidential candidate, new investigations continue to be opened against their candidate, Ekrem İmamoğlu.
While İmamoğlu continues to make statements regarding the latest investigation into his diploma, harsh remarks targeting CHP Chairman Özgür Özel have come from AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan.
Speaking on the agenda at his party's Extended Provincial Chairs meeting, Erdoğan attacked CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, saying, "He should come out and answer the allegations of corruption; they have turned the municipalities into a family farm. Watch your step; if you don't, we know how to make you."
While these harsh words from Erdoğan drew intense reactions, particularly from the CHP front, journalist Yılmaz Özdil offered a notable commentary on this move by the AKP Chairman and President.
Özdil interpreted Erdoğan's words as a sign that he wants Özgür Özel as his rival, stating the following:
"As I said six months ago, our leader of the century, having handled the İmamoğlu issue, has begun the campaign to polish Özgür Özel as a 'rival'."
Altı ay önce söylediğim gibi, İmamoğlu meselesini halleden asrın liderimizin Özgür Özel’i “rakip” olarak parlatma faaliyeti başladı
