Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, and Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş visited the village of Narin Güran, whose body was found 19 days after she went missing in Diyarbakır. The ministers visited Narin's grave and subsequently held a joint press conference at the Diyarbakır Governor's Office.
Speaking at the joint press conference, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated that the suspects would be brought to the courthouse today.
Providing information on the current status of the investigation, Minister Tunç said, "Within the scope of the investigation, the statements of 267 people have been taken. Tissue samples taken from Narin are being examined. The chemical analysis report regarding the items evaluated to have been used in the incident is awaited. The 22 suspects in custody will be referred to the court today."
Highlights from Minister Tunç's statements are as follows:
"We just visited the grave of our daughter Narin and prayed for her. Once again, I wish for God's mercy upon our daughter Narin. I am here before you not only as the Minister of Justice but also as a father.
Our goal here is to follow up on ensuring that those who committed this atrocity against our Narin are punished with the heaviest penalties and to clarify the incident. Our hands and eyes will be here until these monsters are held accountable.
Currently, the investigation into the brutal murder of our daughter Narin is being meticulously carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Evidence, findings, and witness statements are being evaluated with extreme care to ensure that justice is served fully and completely.

"WE WILL NOT COMPROMISE OUR DETERMINATION"
Everything necessary is being done to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators as quickly as possible. Protecting our children from harm is our greatest responsibility and priority as a society. We will not compromise our determination to protect them. Harming a child is equivalent to harming humanity. Preventing all forms of violence against children and preventing child abuse have always been among our government's most fundamental priorities. I would like to share some information regarding the actions taken by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office within the scope of both the investigation and search activities.
"4 THOUSAND 656 PERSONNEL TOOK PART"
After the last footage of our daughter Narin, where she was seen heading home by following her 4 friends around 15:15 on her way back, no news could be received from her. At 20:15, the Gendarmerie Command, and at 20:50, the 112 Emergency Center were called, and investigation and search operations were started quickly. An area of 75 square kilometers was searched with 4 thousand 656 personnel, 23 detector dogs, 172 vehicles, 64 drones, 1 UAV, and 5 underground imaging devices; Gendarmerie teams and AFAD teams searched 8 streams, 5 ponds, water wells, and canals. Searches were conducted in 51 areas, including 11 in the police zone and 40 in the gendarmerie zone. 137 cameras were examined. The statements of 267 people were taken, including 26 suspects and 241 witnesses. Narin's uncle, Salim Güran, and neighbor, Nevzat Bahtiyar, were arrested by the court they were brought before on charges of intentional killing of a child and deprivation of liberty.
"FINAL DECISION IS AWAITED FROM FORENSIC MEDICINE"
The chemical analysis report of the samples taken from the vehicles evaluated to have been used in the incident is awaited from the Van Criminal Department. The examination results of plastic bottles, soil, mud, and stone fragments are awaited. Operations regarding HTS and CCTV records by the Diyarbakır Provincial Police Department are ongoing. Tissue samples taken from our daughter Narin were sent to the Diyarbakır Forensic Medicine Institute and other sections in Istanbul for examination. The final report regarding the cause of death is awaited from the Council of Forensic Medicine. The investigation is being conducted meticulously by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
"THEY WILL DEFINITELY BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE"
People in positions of responsibility should avoid such attitudes and behaviors. We must be more level-headed and stand together by protecting our unity and solidarity. It is necessary to avoid making statements for different reasons over the pain of our daughter Narin. The brutal murder of our child Narin has caused deep pain and indescribable grief in the heart of every individual. They will definitely be held accountable. They will pay the price for the atrocity they committed. Let no one have any doubt about this. We will continue to take the necessary steps to ensure that every one of our children grows up safe and in peace, and reaches a future full of hope. Healthy communication is important while the investigation continues. Our Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office will inform the public when necessary. The public should not rely on statements other than those made by authorized bodies.
I wish for God's mercy upon our daughter Narin once again, and I offer my condolences to our nation."
