Young woman harassed on the metro recounts terrifying moments

A young woman named Zeynep Bilici, who boarded the Kayaşehir metro yesterday morning to go to work in Istanbul's Başakşehir district, was subjected to harassment by an individual sitting across from her.

Noticing the individual exposing his genitals and masturbating despite the crowd on the metro, the young woman recorded the moments in fear. Following the incident, the young woman went to the Başakşehir District Police Department with the footage in her possession to file a complaint and recounted the terrifying moments she experienced.

''EVERY TIME I CLOSE MY EYES...''

Zeynep Bilici stated, “I boarded the metro around 10:00 in the morning. That individual was already on the metro when I got on. I sat down, and after a while, he started staring at me, and I felt uncomfortable with his gaze. I was wearing long clothing. When I realized the situation, he continued to bother me. I adjusted my clothes; there were two ladies to my left and another lady to my right. I noticed his movements but wasn't sure. That's why I turned on my camera recording. When you look at the camera recording, it can be seen that he is playing with his genitals. I reacted and shouted. He immediately grabbed his bag and got up; his zipper was open at that moment. He denied it. The individual fled, and I filed a complaint at the Başakşehir Police Station. This has nothing to do with gender; it has to do with being human. I have pressed charges against him. I will not let this process go under any circumstances. The camera footage is currently being examined. I hope he is found. Every time I close my eyes, that scene comes to my mind”.

Police teams are examining the metro cameras one by one, attempting to identify the individual.
