Farmer in Yozgat writes "The Republic is 100 years old" in his field with his tractor

61-year-old Erdal Yerden, who lives in the Gümüşkavak neighborhood of the Bahadın town in Yozgat, wanted to do something different to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Yerden used his tractor's plow to leave marks in the soil, writing "The Republic is 100 years old" in his field.

The "The Republic is 100 years old" inscription written by the farmer was captured by a drone.

Yerden told reporters that he wrote this in his 72-decare field in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, which Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk gifted to the Turkish nation, and in reference to Atatürk's saying, "The peasant is the master of the nation."

Explaining that it took him about 3 hours to write it, Yerden said, "I wrote it with love and willingness. Let it be a gift to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms. I dedicate it to everyone who loves the crescent and star flag and says 'I am a Turk.' How happy is the one who says I am a Turk. Here is to many more 100 years. Long live our Republic. Those who see the writing congratulate me. There were those who thanked me and said the writing was very beautiful. They are calling me, and of course, it makes one happy."
