Zafer Party statement on Altaylı's detention: If we don't speak today, there will be no one left to speak tomorrow

Altaylı draws attention with his comments on current events via his self-titled YouTube channel. Fatih Altaylı had been criticized for his recent comments on his channel and was even targeted by Presidential Chief Advisor Saral with the words, 'Altaylı, the water is starting to get hot for you.'

Hours after this post by Saral, Fatih Altaylı was detained on charges of 'threatening the President.' Following Altaylı's detention, a striking statement was released from the Zafer Party's social media account.

The statement made from the party's account included the following expressions:

"The detention of Fatih Altaylı marks a threshold where none of us can say 'my turn won't come' anymore.

In this country, practicing journalism, writing, and speaking are considered crimes the moment you cross the boundaries drawn by the government. Because those in power can no longer silence ideas, they prefer to silence their owners instead. This is not a state of law; it is a harbinger of a regime of fear.

We know this: A silenced journalist is not just one person. What is silenced is the public's right to access the truth. What is silenced is criticism, questioning, and thought. And every voice that is silenced strips away another piece of the government's legitimacy.

Today it is Fatih Altaylı, tomorrow it will be someone else. Because this is not an exception; it is a system. Enemy criminal law is a systematic decay that codes the dissenter as a 'criminal,' the journalist as a 'threat,' and the idea as a 'danger.'

We underline this: No opinion is a crime as long as it does not target the indivisible integrity and unifying values of the Republic of Turkey. Freedom of the press is necessary not only for what we want to hear, but also for what we cannot tolerate hearing.

This is not a choice; it is a stance. If we don't speak today, there will be no one left to speak tomorrow."
