166 million lira fine for digital subscription platforms!

According to the statement made by the Ministry, investigations were launched throughout the year regarding complaints received by the Ministry from consumers concerning digital subscription platforms that provide broadcasting and content services such as television broadcasts, personalized movies, series, documentaries, comedy, and sports.

In the inspections conducted by inspectors, it was determined that "the contracts of consumers subscribed to digital platforms were renewed without obtaining their requests and consent, money was collected from credit cards without the consumers' consent, the requests of consumers who wanted to cancel their subscriptions were not fulfilled within the required time, fees continued to be charged unfairly, and consumers were aggrieved by being paid incomplete refunds."

Due to these and similar violations that caused grievances for consumers during the aforementioned unfair collection and refund processes, an administrative fine of 166 million lira was imposed on the digital subscription platforms by the Ministry of Trade.

The statement included the expression, "As a Ministry, we will continue to work with all our might to protect consumer rights. Respectfully announced to the public."
