2024 meal fees for civil servants determined

The Communiqué on the Implementation of the Regulation on Food Assistance for Civil Servants, prepared by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, has been published in the Official Gazette.

With the communiqué, the principles regarding the minimum meal fees to be collected from civil servants and contracted personnel who will benefit from the lunch service in 2024 have been determined.

Accordingly, the expenses required for food assistance will be covered by the appropriations placed in the institutional budgets, not exceeding two-thirds of the meal costs for Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir, and half for other provinces. The portion of the meal cost that cannot be covered by the budget will be collected from the personnel.

Between January 15, 2024, and January 14, 2025, a daily fee ranging from 7.70 lira to 31.41 lira will be collected from civil servants who will benefit from the lunch service. Contracted personnel will also pay a daily lunch fee ranging from 9.37 lira to 37.55 lira, depending on their salary.

In this context, the daily lunch fee will be collected as 7.70 lira from civil servants in positions with an additional indicator up to 600 (inclusive), 13.09 lira from those with an additional indicator up to 1700 (inclusive), 16.26 lira from those with an additional indicator up to 2,800 (inclusive), 21.07 lira from those with an additional indicator up to 4,200 (inclusive), 28.06 lira from those with an additional indicator up to 5,400 (inclusive), and 31.41 lira from those in positions with an additional indicator higher than 5,400.

For contracted personnel, a daily meal fee of 9.37 lira will be collected from those with a monthly gross contract salary up to 14,870 lira (inclusive), 16.26 lira from those up to 25,100 lira (inclusive), 29.51 lira from those up to 34,675 lira (inclusive), and 37.55 lira from those with a salary above 34,675 lira.

Institutions may determine meal fees above the specified amounts by taking into account the staff's cadre or position title, the nature of their services, meal costs, and factors such as providing the meal service under better conditions in different locations.

The communiqué will enter into force on January 15.
