25 percent medicine price hike reflected on labels

With the update to the Euro exchange rate used in medicine pricing, medicine prices increased by 25 percent as of December 25.

Following the price hike decision published in the Official Gazette on December 16, pharmacists had complained for a week about being unable to find medicines.

It was stated that after the announcement of the price hike decision, medicines were being stockpiled and not released to the market, causing grievances for patients.

With the decision, the threshold value applied to price-protected products was also updated by the same amount as the increase in the Euro exchange rate.

The threshold value became 60 Turkish Lira and 51 kuruş for price-protected products, and 31 Turkish Lira and 62 kuruş for other products.

Thus, as of today, citizens going to pharmacies will purchase medicines at much higher prices.
