464 thousand TL fine imposed on 54 businesses failing to meet criteria in fishing
In 2023, a total of 464 thousand 422 TL in fines was imposed on 54 businesses in Samsun that did not comply with the criteria during hunting and aquaculture inspections conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
In Samsun, there are 5 fishing shelters and 629 fishing vessels within these shelters. Fishing activities are carried out in fresh waters with 124 of these vessels, and in the seas with 505 of them.
In 2023, a total of 58.9 tons of fish were caught, with 58.7 tons from the seas and 210 tons from inland waters. At the same time, 7 thousand 926 tons of fish were farmed in cages in the seas, and 5 thousand 343 tons in inland waters.
2 THOUSAND 811 INSPECTIONS
Including both fishing and aquaculture, a total of 72 thousand 238 tons of fish were harvested in Samsun waters in 2023.
Throughout 2023, 2 thousand 811 inspections were carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Samsun as part of fishing and aquaculture controls and audits, including 284 in the seas, 372 in inland waters, 787 at landing points, 5 in cold storage facilities, 93 in fish markets, 1 thousand 77 in retail outlets, 97 in processing facilities, and 96 in aquaculture facilities.
Within the scope of these inspections, a total of 464 thousand 422 TL in fines was imposed on 54 businesses that did not meet the necessary criteria.
As part of restocking activities, 3 million 200 thousand live fish were released into inland waters and the sea in 2023. Within the scope of these activities, 5 thousand sturgeon were also released into nature in 2023.
