48 percent price hike requested for water in Istanbul

48 percent price hike requested for water in Istanbul

A proposal suggesting a 48 percent increase in water prices in Istanbul will be submitted for a vote at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Assembly, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow.

It was requested that the increased tariff go into effect as soon as it is approved and be updated monthly based on inflation rates. 

The Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration's (İSKİ) request for a 48 percent hike in water prices will be put to a vote at the 4th session of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's November meetings, which will be held tomorrow. 

PRICE HIKE REQUEST TO BE VOTED ON AT THE IMM ASSEMBLY

It has been learned that İSKİ has requested a 48 percent increase in water prices. In the proposal to be discussed at the İSKİ General Assembly tomorrow, it was requested that the increased tariff go into effect as soon as it is approved and be updated monthly according to inflation.

In the proposal, it was suggested that with the 48 percent hike, the current price for residential use, which is 20.62 lira for the 1st tier (0-15 cubic meters), should become 30.54 lira; the price for the 2nd tier (up to 30 cubic meters), which is 29.68 lira, should become 43.95 lira; and the price for the 3rd tier (31 cubic meters and above), which is 40.42 lira, should become 59.85 lira.

For workplaces, it was requested that the price for the 1st tier (0-40 cubic meters), which is 54.03 lira, be increased to 79.98 lira, and the price for the 2nd tier (41 cubic meters and above), which is 62.50 lira, be increased to 92.52 lira.
