54.54 percent increase in daily meal allowance
The daily meal allowance, which is exempt from income tax for companies, has been announced. A 54.54 percent increase has been applied to the 2024 daily meal allowance.
Following the announcement of the minimum wage as 17,002 lira, all eyes were on the meal allowance amounts that will be valid in 2024; meal fees have been increased by 54.54 percent.
The daily meal fee, which was set at 121 TL last year, has been determined as 170 TL (excluding VAT) for 2024 in accordance with the Income Tax General Communiqué Serial No. 324, published in the 2nd Repeated Official Gazette dated December 30, 2023, and numbered 32415. The daily meal fee including VAT has been set at 187 lira.
According to the Income Tax Law, when employers provide meal support to their employees in the amount of the daily meal allowance, the state exempts the payment made from Income Tax, Stamp Tax, SGK Employer Share, and SGK Employee Premium. The daily meal fee that is exempt from income tax is redetermined every year.
