A new era begins in traffic insurance

Radical changes that closely concern millions of vehicle owners on the roads are renewing the process in compulsory traffic insurance from start to finish. With the new general terms published in the Official Gazette and announced with a comprehensive revision, improvements in favor of citizens will be provided at many stages, primarily in resolving grievances after accidents.

Experts agree that with the new implementation, insurance transactions will be more transparent and user-friendly.

AUTOMATIC PROCESSING PERIOD IN DEPRECIATION COMPENSATION

Depreciation processes, which have been a subject of complaint for a long time and where beneficiaries had to make a separate application to receive compensation, are changing completely. From now on, the expert reports prepared after an accident will take into account the vehicle's features, age, the extent of the damage, and previous records. The depreciation amount determined by the expert will be automatically recorded in the system by the insurance company, and there will be no need for an extra application by the beneficiary.

The duty to inform beneficiaries will also be on digital platforms. Insurance companies will be obliged to notify the determined compensation amount in writing via SMS, the application, or e-Devlet. This change aims to reduce bureaucracy and make it easier to exercise rights.

EMPHASIS ON "ORIGINAL PARTS" IN DAMAGE REPAIR

With the new era, the use of only original parts is made essential for the replacement of parts that cannot be repaired in the vehicle. If the part is not original, the obligation to justify and prove the use of an equivalent part has been left entirely to the responsibility of the insurance company. This approach aims to prevent quality and safety problems caused by aftermarket products; the best solution for the citizen's vehicle is guaranteed.

COMING INTO EFFECT ON JULY 1

All these innovative steps will start a fairer and more practical period in compulsory traffic insurance. The implementations, which will come into effect as of July 1, 2026, will prioritize fast access to compensation and greater confidence in repairs for millions of insured vehicle owners. Experts state that the changes are in favor of the citizens and will reflect positively on the insurance sector.
