A week of gains in the markets: Which investment vehicle performed the best?
Gains stood out in the financial markets this week; investors saw value increases in the stock market, gold, and foreign currency.
Following a volatile week in the markets, both Borsa Istanbul and precious metals provided significant returns to their investors. The ceasefire reached between the US and Iran and the resumption of trade through the Strait of Hormuz reflected positively on the markets on the final trading day of the week.
In Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index completed the week with a 3.65 percent increase, closing at 14,587.93 points, marking a record level for both daily and weekly closes. During the week, the index tested a low of 13,842.77 and a high of 14,601.12 points, pushing its historical peak even higher.
The gram price of 24-karat gold bullion traded at jewelers rose by 2.48 percent to reach 7,028 liras. In the same period, the Republic gold coin also climbed by 2.47 percent to 47 thousand 338 liras. The price of the quarter gold coin, which was at the 11 thousand 487 lira level at the beginning of the week, ended the week at 11 thousand 772 liras with a 2.48 percent increase.
In the foreign exchange market, the US dollar rose by 0.43 percent to 44.8530 liras, while the euro increased by 1.33 percent to 53.1110 liras. During this period, investment funds provided a return of 2.14 percent, and private pension funds provided a return of 1.90 percent. Among investment funds, the best-performing category was "equity funds" with 2.81 percent.
In a week where investors' search for safe havens continued, the limited increases in foreign currency drew attention, while the performance of the stock market and gold stood out among financial instruments.
