Affecting millions: Striking forecast regarding pensions and minimum wage!

Millions of workers are wondering how much the increase in the minimum wage will be. Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan had stated that a raise of around 50 percent would be given to civil servants and civil servant retirees.

Speaking to Milliyet, Certified Public Accountant Ahmet Kurtuluş used the following expressions:

“Although Minister Işıkhan estimates that a raise of around 38 percent will be given to SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees, this rate is the inflation adjustment to be provided. We believe that our President will definitely provide a welfare share increase on top of this, and that the raise to be given to SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees will be around 50 percent, similar to the raise to be given to minimum wage earners.

The 38 percent rate is a rate related to the inflation adjustment. We can foresee that the inflation adjustment will actually be higher than this, around 41-42 percent, and that a welfare share increase of 7-8 percentage points will be added on top of this, resulting in a 50 percent increase for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees.

Here, based on a 50 percent increase, we foresee the lowest SSK and Bağ-Kur retiree salary rising from 7 thousand 500 TL to 11 thousand 250 TL.

We expect the lowest civil servant retiree salary to rise from 9 thousand 876 TL to 14 thousand 814 TL with a 50 percent increase.

MINIMUM WAGE FORECAST

Our expectation regarding the minimum wage remains valid. We are of the opinion that an increase above inflation will be made. As I have stated before, there will be an increase of around 50 percent along with the expectation of a welfare share. We are of the opinion that a minimum wage of around 17 thousand 104 TL will be determined."
