AKP prepares omnibus bill: Income-based billing and tax system on the way!

Inside information has been shared regarding the AKP's preparations for a 'New Omnibus Law'.

According to a report by the Türkiye newspaper, known for its proximity to the government, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek recently provided some details on what the 'omnibus' bill contains during the AKP's consultation meeting in Kızılcahamam.

"OUR MAIN GOAL IS TO ENSURE JUSTICE IN TAXATION"

At the meeting, Şimşek stated regarding the work to be done: "Our main goal is to ensure justice in taxation. We aim to collect more taxes from those who earn more. There have been many changes to tax legislation in recent times. We need to tie this to a system. Tax legislation should not be tinkered with this much. We will set the rules. Everyone will act according to these rules and will know that these rules will not change frequently."

NEW ERA IN ENERGY

The report stated that the goal is to prevent the abuse of state support, licenses, or various allocations by investors, particularly those receiving state support to invest in the renewable energy sector. AKP officials noted that there will also be new steps taken to shorten the licensing and permit processes for mining exploration.

INCOME-BASED NATURAL GAS BILLING

The government has decided to launch a new study in the coming days, led by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Family and Social Services, to ensure that domestic gas production is reflected in citizens' pockets. The study will address providing affordable natural gas to low-income citizens, and the implementation of income-based natural gas pricing was put on the table.

Government sources said: "There is a very large subsidy on natural gas. There is no distinction between low-income or wealthy; the same tariff is applied to 85 million people. In the coming period, we have started work to narrow this subsidy down from the general public to specific groups. Which application will be implemented will be determined in the coming days. For example, consumers will be billed for what they use. If a high-income individual receives a 5,000 lira bill, they will pay the 5,000 lira."
