MARKETS FOUND SUPPORT FROM WALLER'S STATEMENT

After Fed Board Member Christopher Waller suggested that interest rates might not need to rise again, the dollar lost value, while bond yields continued their November rally.

Expressing that he is encouraged by signs that economic growth is slowing, Waller noted that if inflation continues to fall for a few more months, there would be good economic arguments for lowering the policy rate.

According to a weekly survey conducted by JPMorgan Chase & Co. since 1991, investors are increasingly positioning themselves for a hard economic landing and aggressive policy easing in the coming year.

This week, investors will closely monitor US economic data, including the core inflation measure tracked by the Fed, for further clues regarding the direction of interest rates.
