All-time record broken in e-commerce: 300 billion lira in transactions realized
Hakan Çevikoğlu, President of the Electronic Commerce Operators Association (ETİD), stated that an all-time sales record was broken in November, reporting that 300 billion lira in transaction volume and 500 million orders were reached last month. Çevikoğlu also said that "all platforms and sellers must prepare themselves for e-export."
Hakan Çevikoğlu, President of the Electronic Commerce Operators Association (ETİD), stated that due to experience gained from past campaigns, changing consumer habits, and e-commerce regulations, discount campaigns this November were generally focused on specific weeks and lasted for a month.
Explaining that consumers have also become accustomed to November campaigns and have started planning their demands accordingly, Çevikoğlu noted that e-commerce platforms, sellers, and brands have also carried out their campaign planning according to this calendar.
Singles' Day, Black Friday, Teachers' Day, Cyber Monday, and the fact that schools went on a one-week break on November 13 meant that e-commerce witnessed intense discount campaigns and shopping, Çevikoğlu underlined, emphasizing that parents in particular bought electronic items such as tablets and game consoles for their children during this period, and that products such as bags, pens, and notebooks saw interest with the reopening of schools.
NOVEMBER DATA
Çevikoğlu pointed out that flower purchases led the way on Teachers' Day, and that there was also demand for books, ceramic objects, mugs, frames, and textile products. Çevikoğlu said, "An all-time record was broken in e-commerce this November. It was a month full of records in both the number of transactions and trade volume. Compared to the previous month, nearly 2 times the transaction volume and number of transactions were realized in e-commerce. Compared to November of last year, there was a growth of over 4 times. This corresponds to approximately 300 billion lira in transaction volume and 500 million orders for November 2023."
Touching on projects planned in the sector, Çevikoğlu stated that the development of the e-commerce sector will be through e-export in the coming period, and for this reason, all platforms and sellers must prepare themselves for e-export.
