Article from pro-government Yeni Akit columnist likely to anger Erdoğan! 'Sorry, oh government...'

İdris Günaydın, a columnist for the pro-government newspaper Yeni Akit, drew attention to the livelihood struggles faced by retirees in his latest piece and, in a surprising move, criticized the government.

Günaydın stated that the government also bears responsibility for the rise in the cost of living, using the words, "Sorry, oh government. You are also a quarter of the reason for this high cost of living."

Suggesting that if the economic situation continues in this manner, the government's chances in the upcoming elections will diminish, Günaydın noted that retirees, especially those under the Social Security Institution (SGK), are facing difficulties such as paying rent.

Stating that there is a market inflation beyond the rise in the dollar exchange rate, Günaydın said, "It is as if there is no control." Criticizing the state for only issuing fines to those who hoard goods or unfairly increase prices, Günaydın argued that harsher sanctions should be implemented.

While stating that he believes it is important for the government to remain in power, Günaydın also expressed that many people around him do not share this view. He commented, "Even my closest ones; those who for years never failed to hang Tayyip Erdoğan's poster on their balconies, are saying, 'If this is poison, we will drink this poison.'"

Furthermore, criticizing the focus on holiday bonuses given to retirees while ignoring other expenditures, Günaydın said, "While it is not mentioned how much money comes out of the treasury for money given to others, salaries, per diems, and welcome-farewell expenses, the holiday bonus given to retirees is brought up."

Stating that they have difficulty making their voices heard, Günaydın used the expressions, "It is useless to tell the deputies. They can barely get out from behind the walls of Parliament."

Drawing attention to the difficulty of reaching the inner circle of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Günaydın concluded his article by saying, "Our President says; 'My district governor, my governor will not sleep at night if necessary.' He says it, but we cannot reach those who are said to be closest to him. Is this good?"
