Assurance for homebuyers: A new era begins for housing sales listings!

The Ministry of Trade is preparing to implement the Electronic Listing Verification System for residential property sales listings as well, in an effort to curb the recent rise in speculative listings and unauthorized real estate brokerage activities in the property market.

Through this system, residential sales listings will be matched with their actual property owners, strengthening the environment of trust in the market.

The EİDS application, which is already used for rental listings in the real estate market, was launched as a pilot in İzmir, Antalya, and Sivas as of February 1. It is planned to become mandatory for all real estate sales listings across Turkey after February 15.

This new step, which concerns consumers as well as real estate professionals, aims to prevent fake listings and largely eliminate unregistered real estate brokerage.

Under the system, property owners will log into the e-Devlet system, select the property they own, and authorize the relevant real estate agent to post the listing. This authorization will be valid for at least 3 months, and those who wish can easily extend or terminate the authorization via e-Devlet.

Verified listings will feature the phrase “EİDS authorization verified” and the system logo. This is intended to prevent fraud on listing platforms.

Hacı Ali Taylan, President of the Federation of All Real Estate Consultants of Turkey, expressed his support for the application, stating, “Illegal real estate brokerage will now end. The system brings significant discipline to our sector. Fake and unauthorized transactions will largely come to an end. This application will have very positive effects for both consumers and the sector.”

With the implementation of the Electronic Listing Verification System nationwide, the title deed information of listed properties will be verified one-to-one, and their auditability will be ensured. This is seen as a critical step in both reducing price inflation in the market and minimizing fraud cases.

During the pilot application process, the system's technical infrastructure, user experience, and potential shortcomings will be identified, and necessary adjustments will be made. The ultimate goal is to build a secure, transparent, and traceable real estate market.
