ATÜ Duty Free launches product delivery service at Riga International Airport

ATÜ Duty Free has launched a service in collaboration with Omniva that allows goods purchased from the departure area of Riga International Airport to be sent to any Omniva parcel machine in the Baltic States.

The service is available for Baltic passengers traveling to destinations within the European Union.

The decision to implement the service was made after analyzing new shopping habits formed post-pandemic and by Generation Z.

ATÜ Duty Free Latvia Operations Director Tamer Ciğeroğlu stated: “Today, shopping is not just about the product we buy. In the new era, customers are buying the shopping experience, and personalized services are coming to the fore. In this context, we offer our customers a privileged service with a partial delivery option as part of our Shop & Collect service. After shopping in our duty-free stores, the products they purchase are sent to the delivery points closest to their homes, so they do not have to carry the products with them during their travels.”

He also explained that the products can be stored at the delivery points for up to one week. This also provides significant convenience to passengers regarding restrictions on purchased products in accordance with customs regulations, allowing them to shop at the airport and fly to their destination country without being subject to certain limitations. Purchased products are transferred to the collection points.

Ciğeroğlu said, "We are happy to implement a satisfying collaboration with Omniva to make our customers' shopping experience valuable."

This delivery service to any selected parcel machine in Latvia, Lithuania, or Estonia will be valid for all products purchased from the ATU Duty Free store. The delivery fee within Latvia will be €2.99, and €5.34 to other Baltic countries. Omniva will store the package in the parcel machine for seven days from the day of delivery.

Riga International Airport holds the distinction of being the first airport in the Baltic countries to offer such a service to its customers.

This service will be particularly convenient for passengers from the Baltic countries, who will be able to take advantage of the wide variety of shops at Riga Airport and send their purchases to selected collection points," said Arturs Saveljevs, Member of the Board of Riga Airport.

One of the reasons why such a service could be developed in the region is the high level of readiness of Baltic residents to use parcel machines. Although it is a relatively new service in other European countries, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia have a developed parcel network, and there is an increasing trend in shipments even after the pandemic.

For example, Omniva Group delivered more than 15 million packages in the first half of this year, which is 10% more than the same period last year. The Omniva network, consisting of more than 1,150 parcel machines and 150,000 lockers across the Baltics, is the largest in the Baltic countries and provides fast delivery not only to people living in large cities but also to less populated regions.
