Bad news for those expecting a flat-rate raise: Lowest pension figure leaked from AKP corridors

The final data that will be decisive for the increase to be made to pensions in July will be announced on July 3. While inflation for the first five-month period was 16.60 percent, the rate of increase that retirees will receive will be finalized with the announcement of the June figures.

REGULATION BEING PREPARED FOR THE LOWEST PENSION

According to a report by the pro-government Türkiye Gazetesi, AKP sources stated that a legal regulation will be made in the TBMM after July 3 in order to increase the income of approximately 5 million people receiving the lowest pension.

According to figures discussed in the corridors, it is planned that the lowest pension will not fall below 23,500 liras. It is stated that the difference payment to be made to retirees whose base pension remains below this level will be covered by the Treasury.

NO FLAT-RATE INCREASE PLAN

If the six-month inflation is around 18 percent, it is estimated that an increase of between 3,500 and 3,600 liras could be made to the lowest pension. However, it is stated that the flat-rate raise formula is not on the table at the current stage.

TBMM'S WORKING CALENDAR MAY BE EXTENDED

The omnibus bill, which is expected to include the regulation regarding pensions, is planned to be handled together with the 12th Judicial Package and studies regarding student amnesty. For this reason, the TBMM is expected to continue its work in July as well.
