Banking sector's loan volume increased

Banking sector loan volume increased by 31 billion 707 million liras as of last week, reaching 11 trillion 661 billion 959 million liras. According to the weekly bulletin published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the total loan volume rose from 11 trillion 630 billion 252 million liras to this figure in the period up to January 5.

Total deposits in the sector decreased by 162 billion 821 million liras last week, falling to 14 trillion 680 billion 260 million liras. Consumer loans increased by 2 billion 509 million liras as of January 5, reaching 1 trillion 516 billion 260 million liras. These loans include 437 billion 883 million liras in housing loans, 95 billion 329 million liras in vehicle loans, and 983 billion 48 million liras in personal finance loans.

Installment commercial loans increased by 8 billion 744 million liras, reaching 1 trillion 393 billion 482 million liras. Banks' individual credit card receivables rose by 1.6 percent to 1 trillion 173 billion 349 million liras. Of these individual credit card receivables, 510 billion 455 million liras consisted of installment debts, while 662 billion 894 million liras consisted of non-installment debts.

Non-performing loans increased by 556 million liras compared to the previous week, rising to 191 billion 984 million liras. Specific provisions were set aside for 154 billion 294 million liras of these non-performing loans. The banking sector's legal equity increased by 354 million liras, reaching 2 trillion 444 billion 632 million liras.
