Banking sector's loan volume reached 11 trillion 374 billion liras last week
The banking sector's loan volume increased by 71 billion 161 million liras last week, rising to 11 trillion 374 billion 76 million liras.
According to the weekly bulletin published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the sector's loan volume increased by 71 billion 161 million liras as of December 15.
During the period in question, the total loan volume rose from 11 trillion 302 billion 915 million liras to 11 trillion 374 billion 76 million liras.
Total deposits in the banking sector, including interbank deposits, increased by 304 billion 751 million liras last week. The banking sector's total deposits, which rose by 2.2 percent, reached 14 trillion 466 billion 375 million liras.
Consumer loan amounts declined to 1 trillion 481 billion 182 million liras
As of December 15, the amount of consumer loans decreased by 1 billion 900 million liras, falling to 1 trillion 481 billion 182 million liras. Of these loans, 438 billion 845 million liras consisted of housing loans, 91 billion 837 million liras of vehicle loans, and 950 billion 499 million liras of personal finance loans.
During this period, the amount of installment-based commercial loans increased by 14 billion 364 million liras, reaching 1 trillion 349 billion 188 million liras.
Banks' individual credit card receivables rose by 0.6 percent to 1 trillion 79 billion 506 million liras. Of the individual credit card receivables, 473 billion 646 million liras consisted of installment debts, while 605 billion 860 million liras consisted of non-installment debts.
Legal equity increased
Non-performing loans in the banking sector decreased by 232 million liras compared to the previous week as of December 15, falling to 175 billion 695 million liras. Specific provisions were set aside for 146 billion 892 million liras of these non-performing loans.
In the same period, the banking system's legal equity increased by 14 billion 918 million liras, reaching 2 trillion 414 billion 452 million liras.
