Bankruptcy ruling issued for century-old tea company

Tirebolu 42 Çay Gıda Pazarlama Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ, one of the deep-rooted tea producers of the Black Sea Region, has gone bankrupt after failing to overcome a financial bottleneck following a journey that began approximately 120 years ago. The decision from the court following the company's financial troubles has shocked the local public and industry representatives.

The Tirebolu 2nd Civil Court of First Instance announced in its decision dated May 14, 2026 (file no: 2025/296 Basis, 2026/172 Decision) that the company has officially gone bankrupt. Following this decision, the Tirebolu Enforcement Office announced that the “ordinary liquidation” process has begun and official procedures have been initiated.

With the bankruptcy recorded as of May 14, 2026, at 13:52, an important call was made to individuals and institutions who are creditors of the firm or who claim rights over the company's assets. It was reported that interested parties must apply to the Tirebolu Bankruptcy Office with their documents within one month following the announcement. In addition to the company's creditors, those who owe debts to the firm are also required to inform the enforcement office within the same period.

Following the critical decision, it was announced that the first meeting of the bankruptcy administration will be held on July 30, 2026, at 14:00 at the Tirebolu Enforcement Office.
