Banks continue to make profits

According to BRSA data, the total assets of the Turkish banking sector exceeded 39.6 trillion liras as of the end of June. The sector recorded a net profit of 422 billion liras in the first half of the year, while the non-performing loan ratio stood at 2.12 percent.

Banks continue to make profits

According to the "Non-Consolidated Main Indicators of the Turkish Banking Sector" report for the June 2025 period by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), the sector's total assets increased by 7 trillion 9 billion 323 million liras compared to the end of 2024, reaching 39 trillion 666 billion 557 million liras.

TOTAL SECURITIES REACHED 6.27 TRILLION LIRAS 

Loans, the largest asset item of the sector, amounted to 19 trillion 555 billion 463 million liras as of June, while the total securities reached 6 trillion 267 billion 221 million liras. During this period, the non-performing loan ratio was 2.12 percent. Deposits, which are the largest source of funds among banks' resources, increased by 21.2 percent compared to the end of 2024, rising to 22 trillion 914 billion 438 million liras.

In the same period, total equity increased by 16.7 percent to reach 3 trillion 382 billion 20 million liras. As of the end of June, the sector's net profit for the period was recorded at 422 billion 459 million liras, and the capital adequacy standard ratio was recorded at 18.03 percent.
